Problems with audio getting out-of-sync in converted files

I am in need of some help converting some television video files. I have experimented using several different Video formats (wmv and mov) and several different audio codecs (aac, wmav1, wmav2) and while I don't have any problems with the video... I am having great difficulty keeping the audio in sync.

For example, I have copied the Technical Information for a sample video (below) and no matter what audio settings I try with this file, the audio always becomes out-of-sync towards the end of the converted recording.

Can you give me some help with this?

You should try to use profiles and expert mode load the proper profile , in audio options activate the audio sync feature and try with 2 channels since from your data the file is in stereo.

My expert mode settings have always had the "Audio Sync" box checked -- but the audio still gets out of sync.

That being said, I just did a new conversion by loading the standard "mov 4-3 2pass" profile and the audio still got out of sync towards the end of the video. The "Audio Sync" box was checked and it was set for 2 channels. Do you have any other http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm?

No unfortunately I do not have any http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm at this time and will ask Gilles about this , sometimes this happens depending on the origin of the video , for instance it does happen sometimes with tempencode for some reason . It is also possible that at some point the recording is missing some information if recorded from satellite or digital television ...

Then ffmpeg looses some information needed for sync...

We have been discussing your issue with Gilles , here is what you could try in expert mode to solve this ...

From your file we get :

Video_Delay/String : -803ms

In expert mode in video options activate command line and place this command if video delay (begins before) Minus sign : -itsoffset -00:00:00:803
or this one if the video delay is plus sign begins (later) : -itsoffset 00:00:00:803

could perhaps also be (00:00:00:803 needs to be tested ) This command should work on avi and mkv mpeg files, it does not work on mp4 .
