16:9 to 4:3 conversion

I was wondering if you can change the format of the video from 16:9 to 4:3 with the black bars on top and bottom to keep the same ratio of the video. Can anyone help?

You probably could do it using expert mode and cropping to be found in the editing tab

So how would you go about doing that? And what exactly should I put in for all the options on there?

I would have to have more information relating to what your file is and what you want to do with it plus all technical information relevant to input file .

Probably the best method would be to use profiles in expert modethen proceed with cropping then make a 4/3 conversion.

But I do not want to crop the video. I still want to keep the video the same ratio. Just smaller so it will fit inside the 4:3 square with black boxes on the top and on the bottom of the video. Is that possible?

Yes it is possible just use easy mode or expert mode

place your 16/9 file in the active worksheet , select the format to which you want to convert and then
select 4/3 and start converting It should leave the two black bars .

I have tried lots of different things. But it just makes the video 4:3 without bars so it is out of proportion.

Now to help you a little, i give a command line in example :

-s 640x272 -aspect 16:9 -croptop 58 -cropbottom 62

You can input this values in editing mode on the expert mode window.
