Xvid to DVD

Postby Iron Man » 08 Sep 2010, 15:51

I apologize ahead of time if this is somewhere else, but I have looked for days now and can't find the answer. I want to convert what I think is an Xvid file to DVD and then burn it onto a Sony DVD+R to be able to watch on my Denon DVD-1720 player. When I use QMC 4.0.0.20, it converts the file and gives me an error message. The converted file will play on my computer in WMP and will play in QMC. I am using Vista Home Premium, 32-bit. I am using IMG Burn to put try to put the file onto the DVD. My technical info from QMC is below, first the original file and then the converted file. My questions are: What am I doing wrong and how can I get this to work? Which of the 5 USA DVD formats do I choose to convert to? When I convert these files, will they be DVD quality? Finally, please be easy. I'm not savvy at this at all; I'm quite the newbie. Thanks ahead of time.

Hello Iron Man,

welcome on the forum.

You can select in easy mode the following setting : ntsc(USA) dvd hq 16:9.
When the file is already converted with Encoded_Library/String : VirtualDubMod build 2542/release,often FFmpeg don't like and crash.
Have a nice day

Cocoon-dev,

Thanks for your answer. I understood the part about easy mode and the 16:9 setting, but the second part I don't understand at all. You said, "When the file is already converted with Encoded_Library/String : VirtualDubMod build 2542/release,often FFmpeg don't like and crash." I don't know what any of that means or what I have to do to convert the file and burn it onto a DVD. Could you dumb it up for me, please? Do I convert from an Xvid or from AVI? How do I convert the file? Thanks again. By the way, I will most definetly send a few bucks from my PayPal account.

Hello Iran Man,

It exist an incompatibility between FFmpeg and VirtualDub in some cases.
You can select ntsc(USA) dvd hq 16:9 to convert your video but without warranties.

Thank you for your participation.

Have a nice day.
