MOV to MOV with changing audio levels

Postby poisonfree » 25 Jun 2009, 14:32

Hello,

first I have to say that I really like your software, works really nice.

Now, here is what was http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm me for quite some time now.
I need to find a way to change audio levels in quicktime mov files. This means that I don't need to re-encode video to different format/codec (format that I use now is perfectly good),
I just need to change the volume of audio channels inside the mov file. (it would be good if all audio channels inside the file could be changed, not just 2 channels).
I've been trying to make a profile in expert mode, but didn't succeed.

Here is an example of mov file with 2 audio channels :

General

I managed to make some profiles, but just can't seem to pick up the right codec, so the video in the old and the new file will remain the same.
What confuses me is Format field in video info which is now MPEG-4 and used to be QuickTime. Also there is some more differences.
Is it possible to keep the video the same in both movies, without re-encoding, and just to change the audio levels?
When I choose MOV format, with dvvideo as codeo, and for audio pcm_s24be this is what i get:

General
CompleteName : C:\Documents and Settings\Milan\Desktop\omneon test\encode\movDV2ch_converted.mov

Hello and welcome,

There are in fact many questions in your post ,

First changing audio level can only be done in expert mode in the audio options tab. You may use your profile or one of the default profiles in the QMC . Note that we have now QMC 3.8.0 beta HD which contains even more default profiles .
You should find in version 3.8.0 the mov profiles , just load them and change audio volume to whichever volume you wish.

Nb : Profiles in QMC 365 and 3.8.0 are not the same as we are using newer versions of ffmpeg in 3.8.0
I see from the details of your file that you have a two channel file therefore I am not sure I understand your question about channels normally all audio channels would be increased with this method

It is not possible to reencode only the audio unless you want to later use a video authoring tool to later rejoin the files .
To do this you would need three steps :
place the file in the active worksheet go to expert mode and load a mov profile (1 9 means really 16/9 it is a typo).

Step 1: encode the video without audio load the profile or fill manually ( check do not encode audio in the audio options tab) proceed to conversion.
Step two 2: Check do not encode video in the video options tab to extract only the audio file . then move the ruler of the audio tab to the level you need (or enter it by manually) then proceed to conversion.

Step 3: reassembly you would have to use a video authoring tool to join the two files obtained in 1 and 2.

Lets hope this helps you a bit
Have a nice day
