MOV loses sound

Postby jonniwim » 05 Feb 2009, 09:07

My problem is whenever I convert an MOV file, no matter what conversion I do, be it AVI or MPEG, or anything, it ends up with no sound at all. This has happened with another program that converts video files, so I am wondering if there is just something I am missing when converting, and if I need to take specific steps to preserve the sound. These are all files from a new camcorder I received for Christmas. The options for this camera are pretty limited, but you can record in "HD", "CIF", and "D1". I don't know if it makes any difference whatsoever, but I'm fairly sure the files were recorded in HD.

I am running windows XP and here are the specifics on one of the movie files from that camera:

Hello and welcome ,

Most HD are proprietary so lets see ...
Not sure if your codecs are supported at this stage , you may try firs to extract the audio by placing the video on the active worksheet then click on the loudspeaker icon and select mp3 . If you get the sound the video codec is the culprit , if you get no sound that means that the audio codec may be proprietary and the cause for not being able to convert.

Lets us know ,

You could also try to make a small clip and send it to us via rapidshare or media share so we could run some tests on it .

Hope this helps.
Have a nice day
