qmc crashes MSVCRT.dll Summer Time Change

Postby frolick » 28 Mar 2010, 17:36

in the past with previous versions, i successfully used qmc with minimal problems until recently.
i downloaded the newest version from your website 4.0.0.20
im using windows vista home premium
with windows media center
i also have a video capture card with honestech TVR software

now whenever I run the program and even on the easy mode,
when i try to convert an flv or mpg/mpeg file to quicktime mp4 file H264 HQ 4:3
at 60%, the program crashes. ive tried different flv and mpg files, but still it crashes

i turned off DEP, uninstalled Riva FLV converter, it still crashes.
i dont have quicktime installed.

What seems to be the problem why this software crashes?
Please help. I need to convert my videos to quicktime mp4, Ipod format, and 3gp and 3g2 files,
but im stuck at the first stage of converting even to mp4.

It also crashes after a while even when im not using the program (no activity and just running).
Please help.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome,

Have you made sure you installed QMC with full admin rights ?

Make sure you unsinstall all previous versions from windows unsintaller then reinstall QMC hd 4.0.0.20

If your version is a portable version which should not be the case if you downloaded from our website then you can expect this to happen .

Looking forward to your news,

Have a nice day

and no, it is not a portable version.
yes the old version was completely uninstalled
using windows control panel install/uninstall programs
and I downloaded Install-Hd-4-0-0-20.zip from your website,
unzipped and installed the program.

any other information you need to know?

Hello again ,

Did you install with full admin rights ?

Is your install stable ? because the error mentionned is from a microsoft dll which seems to be creating some problems.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.01.windowsconfidential.aspx
and
http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1SKPC_enBE362BE372&aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=MSVCRT.dll

From this my best guess would be to find the proper dll first and replace the one in your windows ... Then try again , make sure first to create a restore point.
Check this link first result :http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?form=MSHOME&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=MSVCRT.dll+download+vista
The problem might come from the time change it seems...

Let us know please .

Have a nice evening

After reading on the web, I found out that MSVCRT.dll which is a Microsoft Visual C++ run time
cannot be redirected because it is one of the known DLLs that cannot be redirected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\KnownDLLs
Indeed, I tried the redirection method, but it did not work.

Your first and second links therefore are useless.

On your third link, which is for KB932590, a hotfix which contains MSVCRT.dll file version
7.0.6000.20538 for Vista 32, I tried to download and install the hotfix, but it would not let me
simply because my MSVCRT.dll file version 7.0.6001.18000 in my computer is newer than the one included in KB932590.
My computer is always updated using automatic windows update. I dont think the issue is about
time and daylight saving time.

The real issue here is that the latest QMC version which is 4.0.0.20
was programmed and compiled using any of the MS visual C++ programming language that requires an older version of MSVCRT.dll.
In other words, when your dev/programmer created this software version, he probably did not update
his C++ library and runtime files so that newer runtime files can support his software.

I am afraid I cannot roll back my version of MSVCRT.dll, Vista wouldnt just allow me to do it in the ordinary manner,
because it is a protected system file. Vista can only change the file to another file version if it's part
of a system update, a hotfix for example.

Besides, I dont want to screw up my OS just to make this program work. I'm so frustrated. :(((((((

hello,

the software use the dll installed on your computer and is not compiled with the ms-visual or other microsoft programm.
We work with owner dll's.
You have a problem with your computer and the msvcrt dll .

To resolve your problem fix the bug with this dll.
Replace the dll.

In the futur, send directly the good's informations so we can directly find the solution or we can directly help you.

Have a nice day.

"Msvcrt.dll is the (Microsoft Visual C++ Run-Time) for Visual C++ versions 4.2 to 6.0. It provides programs compiled with these versions of Visual C++ a typical set of library functions required by C and C++ programs. These include string manipulation, memory allocation, C-style input/output calls, etc." - Wikipedia

Obviously, QMC was programmed and compiled using C++ and it needs MSVCRT.DLL to run in windows.
My MSVCRT.dll is a newer version and QMC CRASHES with this newer version.
I don't want to replace it with an older version as it might cause system instability.
Your software is http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm because it cannot run properly with the newer version of
MSVCRT.dll. It is not my computer problem, it is your software that is http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'm uninstalling QMC. I'm replacing it with
another good, stable and fast file conversion software.

Hello again ,

For your information , our software is first not programmed in c++ nor does it use any windows dll as we use our own , so the problem is not related to qmc but to windows ...

Sorry to contradict you ,

Actually, it is the software's bug! The same error used to appear on my PC which uses Vista, until I recently installed the v4.0.0.30 Beta4. There was absolutely no problem with this version! I think the earlier version was not compatible with the msvcrt.dll in Vista. So, I would recommend using the latest qmc beta version!

Thank You!
