Unable to Find ffmpeg

Postby bomber916 » 11 Jan 2011, 22:44

I have been having issues using the latest version of QMC (4.500) downloaded 1-10-11 on my windows 7 64 bit machine. I love QMC, but this install has not been working for me. The program seems to be having issues finding ffmpeg. Whenever I first http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm up the program I get this message:

After clicking ok. I am prompted to download and ffmpeg.

Everything seems to go well until after the download is finished, when I get 3 error messages in a row:

I have checked the locations mentioned and saw that there was an application named ffmpeg in the folders:

I have read several similar problems, but it seemed that an update seemed to fix their problems, and there is no more current version available. I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue so that I can continue to use your wonderful video converter.

Thanks,

Hello,

in first, reload the latest version from the website .
Before to reinstall, you begin to uninstall the old version and go to in the following folder and delete all files:
C:\Users\Williams Family\AppData\Roaming\Cocoon Software\QuickMediaConverter\
Reinstall and check after if all files are presents after that you have well in first time launched QMC.
Try again to convert a video file.

Thank you.

I have uninstalled QMC and deleted the QuickMediaConverter folder, then installed it with a download fresh from your site. After installing I found that the QuickMediaConverter folder had returned, and the ffmpeg files were in the correct locations exactly as they were before.

While I was installing, after QMC downloaded ffmpeg, I got the 3 errors in a row that I mentioned in my first post. I did not get an error message before being asked to download ffmpeg though.

Once QMC was up and running, I attempted to convert a video, but it failed. I have attached the log file.

Thank you for your quick reply,

Hello,
sorry for the delay.

rename the file with standard characters.
Don't use "/:," in the file name.

Have a nice day.

I tried it with a different file, one with a name without any slashes. I still got the same error. I have tried completely removing the program, including deleting ffmpeg. I have attached the log.

I do not know if this helps at all, but whenever I install QMC, this file appears on my desktop just above the shortcut. It does not show a name on my desktop.

Hello,

it's not good, this file is only used by the software to initiate the db of data in expert mode.
Try to install on a other computer.
If installation of QMC is well done ,check your computer...

Have a nice day.

My friend was able to install this on his computer, and it worked fine. I can't figure out what went wrong. I think that the version I had before I tried to upgrade to 4.5 started doing the same thing. If you think of anything else that might be causing the problem, let me know.

I have been able to use ffmpeg with other programs. I recently updated Audacity, which uses ffmpeg, and it worked great. I will try to install QMC in a virtual machine, but I would rather be able to use it without starting the VM

I can't see any ffmpeg files in the VM. There are not even folders where the file should be. I think it had a difficult time downloading in the VM

It still doesn't work on windows 7 though. Just on the Virtual Machine. Do you think it would work if I copied the installed program from another computer running windows 7 and pasted it into my computer, or would that cause problems?

I have tried copying the Quick Media Converter folder from the "Program Files" folder of one computer to another, and there was no change. I was wondering if you have any ideas. I am now using the newest (4.5.0.2) version of your program and it still has very similar error messages when I start the program.
