Trying to Convert 3G2 to Other, Audio Not Cooperating.

Postby Vampire337 » 06 Sep 2008, 09:01

Basically, I've got some .3g2 videos from my cell phone camera, which I'd like in a more Windows-friendly format, (MPEG, AVI, WMV, anything!). I've tried several, and the program gives a generic ERROR text and no real explanation. I have gone to expert mode and through trial and error found that disabling audio (checkbox) allows me to convert video. Haven't found any combination of options to convert the audio yet...

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3, on a Core 2 Duo system with 2GB RAM and 18GB free hard disk space. I just downloaded this program tonight, so I'm certain I have the latest version. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Actually, I sat here thinking about the problem, and it occurred to me that something in the audio section of the information could be searched for (since the ubiquitous "ERROR" is not allowed because there are too many references in this forum). So I looked up "QCELP". Yep, I'm in the USA. :(

Two questions: 1. Is there any plan to include this codec in future releases of the software, if it's not already possible with an additional codec pack? 2. More of a http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm than a question: perhaps you could have the program pop up a window stating the problem with the QCELP codec, so more users know what their problem is without having to post a question in the forums?

Hello and welcome,

1)Thanks for reporting you problem . It is a known issue with the QCELP codec , we are trying to figure out a solution for that and as soon as it will become possible we will eveidently include it as well in our application.

2As for a popup window I think it is a good idea and I will ask Gilles to try to figure out a way to do it or place some sort of a message in the status column. THere is however obviousely no way for us to know in advance what sort of mobile you are using in the event you plan to send videos or audio to your phone.

I suppose this answers your questions.

Have a good day,

Thanks for the answers. I am using a Palm Treo 700wx, which I believe is capable of playing most standard Windows formats, so I won't personally need to use the QCELP codec to play video from my phone... That said, maybe others could try creating 3G2 videos (not using QCELP) and see if they work in their phones.
