Conversion from MKV to AVI

Postby enioenzo » 20 May 2009, 13:26

Hello,

first of all let me say that it is a great program for conversion.

I have a problem to report. The conversion from MKV to AVI in original aspect does not register the audio.

I am using the profile divx 16-9.xml where I changed the aspect from 16:9 to origin. The video is correctly converting but without audio. Please see the attached file in order to have the details of the original mkv file. Could you let me know what I should do? Thanks.
Further information. If I convert from MKV to DVD and after from DVD to Divx using Easy mode, it works at the exception that it does not keep the original aspect. That's why I tried to use the expert mode but without success as mentioned earlier in this mail.

Congratulation for your job.

Hello and welcome and thank you for your comments :)

At this point we should verify that your audio channels is set to 6 in the expert mode
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
CodecID : A_AC3
Duration/String : 1h 53mn
BitRate_Mode/String : CBR
BitRate/String : 640 Kbps
Channel(s)/String : 6 channel3

AC3 is supported by ffmpeg ,

From what you send us I see first hand that it is coded in AVC that is not supported or partly by our current version , we have the next version ready and cooking we should release it sometimes today or tomorrow then may I http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/paypaldonate-us.htm you try again your mkv conversion , as we include in this new version the latest HD features and a new version of fflmpeg we have also included new profiles .. Version will be QMC 3.8.0 HD Next Generation .I must still talk to Gilles today to try to put it online asap as we just finished beta testing.

The problem may then be solved ...
Hope this helps...

Have a nice day

You are welcome ,
You should be warned by your application when the new version will be available .
Here is a view of the new application:

Wish you all fun when available

For original aspect (expert and easy mode) you just type w= 0 and L=0
The converter will then keep the original aspect

Conversion from MKV to AVI QMC 3.8.0 - "DVD the salon"

Postby enioenzo » 25 May 2009, 16:50

Hi,

I have successfully tested the conversion from MKV to AVI using expert mode. It keeps the original aspect. I have attached the expert xml file, one is with audio MP3 (
MKV-Divx-MP3-720-576 3000Kbps.xml
(1.07 KiB) Downloaded 20 times
)and the other one is with audio AC3 (
MKV-Divx-AC3-720-576 3000Kbps.xml
(1.07 KiB) Downloaded 15 times
).

Both conversion work on the DVD reader perfectly.

However the AC3 one does not have any sound on my PC. I am sure that it is not a QMC error, but may be you know why?

In addition I would like to know:

1) how to force an audio language when 2 languages are in the mkv file?
2) how to force a subtitle, when a subtitle is existing in the mkv file?

Thanks

Hello again ,

Thanks for the feedbcack information I am sure some users may find it handy too :)

Have you tried to view your AC3 file with the player in QMC ? I think not sure anymore but it may not play corectly if you use VLC or Windows media player.

Regarding other questions

1) Languages we are working on them but it is a bit more complex than we first anticipated and we are running behind on that.

2) Subtitles are supported in expert mode you should perhaps read this post As I explained in that post I have not used it yet so would not be good at advising.
